Abstract
One of the most impressive nature destinations is waiting for you. Due to the special climate and the mixture of certain minerals the algae grow some months of the year in different colors. Due to that, the river is also called “River of the seven colors” or “Rainbow River” and was declared as one of the most beautiful rivers of the world. Spend 4 days within the Macarena National Park and explore pristine waterfalls surrounded by stunning tropical nature. This is a community-organized tour that guarantees that the local communities benefit from tourism creating decent work and life conditions.

Itinerary
Day 1: National Park La Macarena – Caño Cristales (B,L,D)
Today you fly from Bogotá deep into the central Andean mountain range. The unique Caño Cristales River is located at the southern part of the National Park “Serranía de Macarena”. After your arrival in the tiny settlement La Macarena, you will be picked up by members of the local community tourism association and transferred to your hotel in the village. Afterward, you start immediately exploring the area. A short boat ride gives you the chance to observe the local flora and fauna of the north-western part of the Colombian amazon such as exotic birds, freshwater turtles, and caimans. Afterward, a 4×4 vehicle brings you to the Caño Cristales River where you do an eco-hike with a local guide. Today you visit the following sights: “Piscina Karol Cristal”, “Cascada Los Ochos” and the “Piscina del Turista”. In the afternoon arrive the village again. Spend the night at the hotel in the Macarena village.
Day 2: NP La Macarena – Caño Cristales (B, L, D)
This morning you travel again to the Caño Cristales River and do another guided eco-hike to other natural highlights of the river such as waterfalls and natural swimming pools. The sights of today are: “La Silla del Tinigua”, “Los Tres Espejos”, “Pozo Cuadrado” and “Las Escaleras”. Enjoy a typical lunch at the river before heading back to the Macarena village in the late afternoon. After dinner, a local guide tells stories and legends of the region in your hotel. Spend another night in your accommodation in La Macarena.
Day 3: NP La Macarena – Caño Cristales (B, L, D)
This day after breakfast you head again towards the Caño Cristales River and visit the following sights: “Cascada de los Cuarzos“, „Los Pianos“ and „Cascada de la Virgen“. Another time you have a delicious traditional lunch at the river and return to the village late afternoon. After dinner, there will be a presentation of traditional music and culture presented by local families.
Day 4: Return to Bogotá (B)
After breakfast, take the boat along the Guaybero River and pass by some of the local viewpoints before arriving at the local airport. Before noon take the flight back to Bogotá.
